On March 17th, the Campus Conversation on Diversity Series featured a presentation from Prof. Derald Wing Sue, Professor of Psychology and Education in Teacher’s College Columbia in the Counseling Psychology program in the Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology. He is the author of Overcoming our Racism, and Understanding Abnormal Behavior; Microaggressions in Everyday Life: Race, Gender and Sexual Orientation. He has written over 150 publications, including many on microaggressions, and consulted with a wide range of organizations on ways of acknowledging, confronting and eliminating microaggressions.He will speak about his most recent work, Race Talk and the Conspiracy of Silence: Understanding and Facilitating Difficult Dialogues on Race (2015).
The subject of his lecture was, "Talking Race: Why is it so difficult for us to honestly dialogue on race?."
